CBS Outdoor Canada recognizes the importance of protecting the security and integrity of our customers', suppliers', landlords' and job applicants' personal information. Our privacy practices are in accordance with all federal and provincial laws and regulations ("Privacy Legislation"), including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA"). The purpose of this Privacy Legislation Information Sheet is to outline the steps we take to keep your personal information confidential, to inform you about how and why we collect personal information and to provide you with CBS' contact information should you have questions or concerns about our personal information protection practices. For customers', suppliers' and landlords', further information on our privacy policy can be found in the terms and conditions contained in our contracts.

The Collection of Personal Information

CBS collects your identifiable personal information ("Personal Information") and may use it for the following purposes:

  • to identify you;
  • to communicate with you;
  • to process job applications;
  • to process contracts;
  • to comply with legal requirements;
  • to perform business analysis; and
  • to respond to complaints or inquiries.

2.   How does CBS Collect Personal Information?

CBS obtains personal information directly from customers, suppliers, landlords and job applicants through contracts or other contact vehicles during the course of conducting business. Some examples of Personal Information collected may include a customer or landlord's home address, home telephone number and/or personal financial information, and for job applicants, home address, telephone number and e-mail address.

3.   The Disclosure of Personal Information

CBS may disclose or share Personal Information when required by law to do so, for example with law enforcement and government agencies for security, health and safety and legal or regulatory compliance reasons.

Personal Information may be transferred to third party service providers, such as a transit authority, internal or external auditors, or storage facilities, but only where those organizations agree to provide appropriate security to protect the information.

4.   Storage of Data in the United States

As indicated above, some Personal Information may be stored or processed by third parties, including service providers located in the United States. Therefore, your information may be processed and stored in the United States. As a result, the governments, courts or law enforcement or regulatory agencies may be able to obtain disclosure of your information through laws applicable in the United States.

5.   How CBS Protects Your Privacy

CBS keeps in the customer, supplier or landlord's file only Personal Information relevant to the purpose of the file. CBS maintains appropriate physical, procedural and technical security with respect to its offices and information storage facilities to prevent loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure of Personal Information. All Personal Information is destroyed when the required timeframe for audit purposes or legal requirements has expired, including resumes whether solicited or unsolicited.

6.   Your Consent

Except as set out above, CBS does not use or disclose Personal Information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law.

7.   Verifying and Amending Your Personal Information

Individuals are entitled to access their Personal Information collected by CBS, in addition to having the right to modify or correct the existing information, if such information is wrong or incomplete. Please contact the Privacy Officer identified below for your request. In some cases CBS will be required to keep information confidential, if any requests for access to Personal Information are denied, we will provide you with an explanation.
